CPR Classes

CPR, a life saving skill, can easily be learned in a few hours. A combination of chest compressions and rescue breaths are given to people that have stopped breathing and no longer have a pulse. These techniques buy time for the individual until more advanced help arrives at the scent of the emergency. A variety of classes are conducted to meet the needs of the students.
Healthcare Provider
This program is designed to health care professionals, emergency service workers, and other first responders. The class for students taking the class for the first time is held on the third Saturday of each month beginning at 9:00 am at Underwood Memorial Hospital. Students are taught care for adults, children and infants that have stopped breathing. Techniques also include the use of a second rescuer, the semiautomatic external defibrillator, the bag valve mask and other barrier devices. Class length 8 hours. The cost of the program is $50.00 which includes the textbook.
Healthcare Provider Recertification
This program covers the same material listed in the above class, but is designed for students that are currently certified in CPR at the Healthcare Provider lever and need to renew their certification. The class is held on the fourth Monday evening of each month at 7:00 pm at Underwood-Memorial Hospital. The cost of the program is $50.00 which includes the textbook.
CPR for Friends and Family
This program is designed to teach the lay person CPR. The course can be taken to learn emergency care for adults or infants and children or both. In this program CPR and care for choking are taught. Class length 3 hours. The class is held on the second Saturday of each month beginning at 9 am. Cost of the program is $30.00, if both the adult and child part are taken on the same day the fee is $50.00.
AED-Automated External Defibrillation

This program covers the use of an Automated External Defibrillator and CPR to help the patient experiencing a cardiac event. The class length is 4 hours, and the class targets locations that have or will soon have defibrillators as well as those interested in learning more about the topic. The cost of the program is $50.00 and the class is set up on a rotating basis depending on the needs of the students

Classes to become a CPR instructor are conducted several times a year. Students learn techniques to instruct CPR as well as class dynamics and adult learner techniques. Instructors are authorized to teach all levels of CPR and the AED. Those interested in attending this program need to be currently certified at the Healthcare Provider level prior to attending the class. Class fee $175.00.
On Site Programs
For classes larger than 5 students, courses can be conducted at your location. Most times the class fee remains the same. Your company, school or group could have classes conducted at your location and set up at your convenience.

CPR for Schools
You can register for the class on line, but payment is expected prior to the start of the course to ensure a seat. If you registered on line please print out a copy of the course flyer and mail it along with proper course payment. The EMT Training fund is not accepted for these classes. At this time we are unable to accept payment on-line, but should be able to shortly.
